Iligan Tourism Triangle: A Date with Maria Christina

Maria Christina falls which should I say the queen waterfalls of Iligan City. Others also call this as the twin falls named as Maria and Christina which was because of the rock that separates the waters at the brink of the waterfall.

Since I was a kid, I always dreamed of having to see its beauty and grandeur. We often discuss it on class and its a famous knowledge that we get most of Mindanao's Electric Supply through the hydroelectric power plant.

Even after more that 4 years stay studying in Mindanao State University, I couldn't find the luxury of time and company to witness it's awesomeness! And now, finally, a long dream is being fulfilled.

In Maria Christina Natures Park:

After arriving at Maria Christina falls, we went first to see the Butterfly park and the Coy fish or simply call them Carps. I enjoyed their colorful scales and they are very friendly with humans especially if you feed them.

I actually forgot to ask what are the scientific names of these butterflies. I actually had seen some cocoons in the garden. Few months from now, there will be more species and more numbers in the butterfly gardens. Can just you imagine yourself being surrounded by such delicate and wonderful creatures?

Of course, the Ostrich which is the largest bird on Earth and also lays the largest egg is not only limited in Africa! They can't fly but they can run fast! :) At first, I was actually afraid that they might pick you using their beaks - but they weren't that fearful at all.

Showing my ignorance of crocodiles, I almost thought it was only just a statue near the small river. If I'll have kids with me, I will surely bring them here to witness how crocodiles behave. They open their months  to cool off and to let spur-winged plovers get rid of parasites. Just an advice, never put your hands inside his mouth because their jaws biting force is between 3000-5000 lbs, can you translate the data anyway?

If you've been eating bananas and your friends told you that your like a monkey, then you should take some picture with these very energetic second rate human as proof that you are not of any comparison at all. But, at least it's nice to know that you both share the same habits. Should I include myself too?

Well, after the long hours tour, it's very nice that there are small cottages where you can rest and even have a picnic. Here you can spend some family time or enjoy eating lunch together with your friends. Aside from the breeze, you can also watch the waters from the river.

The water rapids after the fall is very delighting indeed and if you want to simply interact with nature, you can just simply allow yourself to be taken away by its serenity and simplicity.

But of course, as every Filipino does when he travels, never miss to take a picture of the landmark that you visited. And finally, i'm no longer dreaming! I just woke up from my long nap of hoping to see the mesmerizing and alluring Goddess of Iligan City - Maria Christina Falls.
