1st Iligan City Waterfalling Adventure Tour: A Journey of New Discoveries

I wanted to join Iligan Bloggers Society's Waterfalling Adventure Tour 1.0 after reading their announcement from the website, but considering my experience in blogging, my skill in writing, I don't have a digital camera and I have a bit busy schedule with my practice teaching - I already hesitated to ask if they are opening this event to people like me or if am I good to apply.

But, early this morning, one of the founders sent me an invitation. Maybe because I keep liking their post about the event? I keep liking it like hell! (hahaha).  I really admire the members of IBS and whenever I have free time, I always pay a visit  to PinayTravelista or  PurpleSlipperz.

Moreover, there is a bigger reason that motivates me to participate - because I want others to know how fun it is to visit Iligan City -  the Majestic City of Waterfalls! Just look at the month long schedule of festivities and surely you will be more than grateful to be part in one of these!

I am so excited indeed for the 5 days adventure! Beginning September 25 to 29 of 2012, we are going to visit different waterfalls, places, events that Diyandi Festival has to offer! :) Being here for 5 years, I still couldn't say I know everything, almost everything or even an expert of Iligan because whenever I revisit these places  - there is always something new that I discover. And maybe it does makes sense at all to say it - that Iligan City is the City of New Discoveries. :)

"And I have a secret to tell you! The best place to visit is an ILIGANON's heart. It is in there that you will discover the generosity, enthusiasm and passion why the city continues to blossom amid the challenges it continued to experience."

Silent Drill Competition on September 22,2012 at ICNHS

On September 22, 2012 ( Saturday), Iligan City National High School will host the Silent Drill Competition as one of the Events for the Diyandi Festival.
Cadets from St. Michaels College having their drill and practice at the ICNHS school grounds last Monday.
When I was third year high school, I became a cadet applicant that was trained to be an officer for the CAT next year. Unfortunately, CAT was removed from our school curriculum and our 2 months training during our summer vacation prior to enrolling for 4rth year , should I say became meaningless. However, I consider it one of my best experience in High School. It taught me a lot of things and my close friends may have noticed, my habit of saluting whenever I meet someone on the street was because of the conditioning we had.

Your riffle is like your wife. It's one of the lessons that was taught to us.

We were also taught how to make commands and how to use swords.

ICNHS students are also thrilled and amazed by the exhibition of the Practicing Cadets.
The Silent Drill Competition will have two categories: College and High School level where Colleges, Universities and Schools from Marawi City, Lanao del Norte and Iligan City are said to be the  participants.

HOM in Partnership with MSU-IIT College of Nursing, Sagip Iligan and City Health Office conducts BP Apparatus Training to IDPs

HOM in Partnership with MSU-IIT College of Nursing, Sagip Iligan and City Health Office conducts BP Apparatus Training to the Internally Displaced Persons at the Diosesan Evacuation Center in Brgy. Luinab, Iligan City.

Sphygmomanometer: An instrument for measuring blood pressure, particularly in arteries.
A Sphygmomanometer comes together with a Stethoscope to
accurately and easily measure Blood Pressure
So this is the story of how this project started:
"Gathering funds for the Sphygmomanometer Project was inspired when Ms. Maria Lourdes Eudela of Health Organization of Mindanao and the volunteer doctor visited a blind man in the evacuation center. She asked him the thing that he wants and to her awe, instead of asking for an eye transplant, he requested for a BP Apparatus to be provided for the camp to monitor blood pressure."

Ms. Maria Lourdes Eudela delivering her message
to the Beneficiaries  of the training and sharing the story behind it.

Ms Karen Veloso, a Sagip Iligan Member and  a  Teacher from
the MSU- IIT College of Nursing also delivered her message.
Students introduced themselves before the lectures started wearing
their name tags and awesome smiles.
The nursing students of MSU-IIT were the ones in charge to the training and lectures. They talked about what is and what affects our Blood Pressure. One student discusses the topic and one carries the visual aid for them to easily see.

After the first topic was discussed, they gave an awesome entertainment with singing and dancing.
Students dancing to the groove of the music.

Their smiles as they perform is really contagious.
And to the next part of the program was about the basic parts of the  BP Apparatus and Stethoscope and how to use it.
Student introducing the Stethoscope and its parts.
The final part included the actual usage of the apparatus by the IDPs.
The Stethoscope (blue box) and
 Sphymomanometer ( the pink box)
This is just the launching and  the first ever of the series of training to be conducted on different transitory sites in Iligan City! Through cooperation and interdependence, we were able to move one step in educating others on the importance of using these apparatuses. May we stay healthy and fit! :)

Iligan Core Group goes to a Radio Interview for World Humanitarian Day 2012

6 Days before the World Humanitarian Day, we were able to coordinate for a Radio Interview to promote the series of activities for the celebration of People Helping People. It's my second time to be interviewed on a Radio Station and I'm so excited to be with my friends from the WHD-Iligan Core Group.

This year, World Humanitarian Day's theme is "I WAS HERE" which should I say was inspired by the song of Beyonce Knowles. Listening to the teaser video, it had given me so much inspiration to do the task assigned to me which is for the School Coordination for the Symposium. For me, serving others is a privilege not everyone was able to avail and we do wish to share this thought to the youth of ILIGAN.

Getting Ready for the Interview
These are the activities schedule of Activities lined up for the week:

And, Change for the better is more fun when your not alone. :)
